Notice No. SMSE-002-07 Amendment of Interference-Causing Equipment Standards ICES-002 and ICES-005

Notice is hereby given that Industry Canada is amending the following Interference-Causing Equipment Standards (ICES): ICES-002, which sets out standards for radio noise emissions from spark-ignition systems of vehicles and other devices equipped with internal combustion engines, and ICES-005, which sets out standards for radio noise emissions from Radio Frequency Lighting Devices (RFLDs).

These documents are Interference-Causing Equipment Standard 002 (ICES-002), Issue 4, Spark Ignition Systems of Vehicles and Other Devices Equipped with Internal Combustion Engines; and Interference-Causing Equipment Standard 005 (ICES-005), Issue 2, Radio Frequency Lighting Devices (RFLDs)

ICES-002, Issue 4, is being released to harmonize Industry Canada’s requirements for spark-ignition systems and internal combustion engines with those of U.S. auto manufacturers, by referencing the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) adaptation
of the international standard CISPR 12.

ICES-005, Issue 2, is being released to harmonize Industry Canada’s requirements for RFLDs with those of the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) Part 18 for conducted emissions limits.

General information

The above documents will come into force as of the date of publication of this notice.

These documents have been coordinated with industry through the Radio Advisory Board of Canada (RABC).

The Radio Equipment Technical Standards Lists will be amended to include the relevant changes.

Interested parties should submit their comments within 90 days of the date of publication of this notice. Shortly after the close of the comment period, all comments received will be posted on Industry Canada’s Spectrum Management and Telecommunications Web site
