LabTest Certification Inc. is a Canadian-based Testing, Inspection, and Certification Body with a head office in Delta, BC (Canada), and additional locations in Richmond, BC (Canada), Toronto, ON (Canada), and Las Vegas, NV (USA).

A well-established company with over 20 years in the TIC industry is seeking a Junior Product Safety Test Technician (Electrical & Mechanical) to join its Las Vegas team. This is an entry-level technical role designed for early-career candidates interested in developing hands-on experience in product safety testing within a regulated laboratory environment.

If you have the following, you may be the person we are looking for:

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Applied Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to learn product safety testing and certification processes in a regulated environment
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical principles
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and safety instructions
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a technical team under supervision
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • A structured, methodical approach to hands-on technical work

If hired, what will you be doing at LabTest?
Key duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support the setup and execution of electrical and mechanical product safety tests under supervision, in accordance with approved test methods and laboratory procedures
  • Assist with testing to nationally and internationally recognized safety standards (including CSA, UL, ANSI, IEC, ISO, and EN) by following approved procedures and work instructions
  • Help execute test plans, verify test conditions, and monitor test activities during execution
  • Accurately record test data, measurements, and observations in approved datasheets, logs, and electronic systems
  • Identify and promptly flag abnormal test results, deviations, or equipment issues for review by senior technical staff
  • Assist with organizing, assembling, and verifying test setups, fixtures, jigs, and sample configurations
  • Safely connect and disconnect test samples in accordance with laboratory electrical and mechanical safety requirements
  • Operate test equipment only after appropriate training and formal authorization
  • Assist in preparing draft test reports and Technical Files for internal review
  • Support witnessed testing activities at client or third-party facilities while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
  • Perform general administrative, organizational, and housekeeping tasks related to testing projects
  • Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, quality requirements, and safety rules

This is a junior, non-signatory role. The position does not independently interpret standards, approve test plans, determine compliance, or issue certification decisions.

  • 8 hours/day, primarily in-office laboratory-based work
  • Hands-on electrical and mechanical testing, including standing for extended periods and working near energized or moving equipment
  • Occasional flexibility in hours or overtime may be required to meet testing schedules
  • Travel may be required at times to support testing or witnessed activities (local or international; valid passport required)
