Vibration Testing

LabTest Certification is an accredited ISO 17025 Testing Laboratory for Shock & Vibration testing for a large variety of products in the areas of Military, Marine, Avionics, Automotive, and more.

Vibration testing is the process of applying a pre-defined amount of vibration to a test specimen by controlling the parameters including frequency, acceleration, displacement and duration. Equipment can be subjected to vibration testing for many purposes including establishing reliability, detecting resonances or demonstrating compliance with a standard. At LabTest, the test article is securely mounted on our electrodynamic shaker table and vibration is applied at the levels required to meet your needs.

Save time & money

The best way to save time and money is to know how to prepare your product before sending for testing. Make sure to provide the appropriate mounting fixture with the test sample.

What makes for a good mounting fixture?

Is your product ready for Shock & Vibration Testing?

The first step is to know what your goals are!

  • Do you need to demonstrate that your product functions during vibration?
  • Do you need to demonstrate that your product still functions after vibration?

  • Are you testing for lifetime fatigue?
  • Are you trying to locate the weakest points resonance search test?
  • Are you assessing if the product is ergonomically usable or comfortable?

Vibration and Shock capabilities are as follows

  • DC–3 to 4000Hz frequency range
  • 60,000 N force rating
  • Maximum static load/payload 2000lbs
  • 4 to 8 channel data logging; with our Spider 81 (Crystal Instruments) Vibration Controller System; 1 reference channel and up to 7 monitoring accelerometer channels
  • Arrangements can be made to increase the number of monitor accelerometers and data logging channels upon request
  • Half-Sine/Terminal or Initial Peak Sawtooth/Triangle/Trapezoidal/Haversine pulse shapes
  • 120,000 N (newton) shock force rating
  • Maximum static load/payload 2000lbs
  • Pre/Post shock profile compensation
  • 4 to 8 channel data logging; with our Spider 81 (Crystal Instruments) Vibration Controller System; 1 reference channel and up to 7 monitoring accelerometer channels
  • Arrangements can be made to increase the number of monitor accelerometers and data logging channels upon request

All vibration and shock tests can also be performed at high and low temperatures by utilizing a thermal chamber specifically designed to fit over our shaker system. The thermal vibration chamber is capable of temperatures from -50°C to +85°C and can achieve very high rates of thermal change.

Benefits of Vibration Testing

Vibration testing can provide a range of useful information from the early research and development stage of a product through to the final design verification and/ or certification stages. Some of the useful benefits of performing vibration testing include:

  • Demonstrate that a product complies with the criteria of various test specifications.
  • Identify resonant frequencies.

  • Verify that a product can physically withstand the expected vibration exposure of its life cycle.

  • Verify that a product can operate throughout the expected vibration exposure of its life cycle.

  • Locate ‘weak links’ in the design during the development stage to identify where the most effective improvements can be made.
  • Generate maintenance schedules with confidence
