Expanded Testing and Certification Services for Korean Manufacturers Targeting North American Markets
LabTest Certification Inc. has partnered with Laboratory for Test & Approvals Co., Ltd. (LTA), an independent third-party testing agency in Yangji, Korea, to provide extensive Testing and Certification Services in Korea for manufacturers targeting the Canadian and U.S. markets. LTA is a global market access specialist for commercial and consumer appliances, information technology, telecommunications and wireless products. This collaboration addresses longstanding challenges, including language barriers, time zone differences, and complex regulatory requirements for CSA (Canada) and UL (USA) standards.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will allow LTA to provide local testing and factory inspection Services on behalf of LabTest to local Korean manufacturers required to have their products certified for the Canadian and American marketplace as per the national product safety standards (CSA and UL).
The local services offered by LTA will make it more convenient for manufacturers to have access to a Certification Body (CB) accredited to certify products for the North American marketplace. One of the biggest challenges has been for Korean manufacturers to understand how to certify their products for the North American marketplace.
Understanding the Korean Testing Landscape
Korea boasts a robust ecosystem of testing and certification bodies, including the Korean Testing Certification Institute (KTC), which focuses on sectors like electrical/electronics, renewable energy, and medical devices. Additionally, organizations like KERI (Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute) leverage international agreements such as the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) to ensure test reports are globally accepted, reducing duplication and costs for manufacturers
With this new partnership between LabTest and LTA, manufacturers in Korea will be provided with local services to help reduce the barriers caused by language, time zone differences and the understanding of product certification.
“With our new partnership with LTA, we will be able to offer Korean manufacturers a speedy route for their certification needs. The commitment we, both LabTest and LTA are making is to offer our clients a seamless and transparent road for Certification. This will allow for faster turn around times and local services“, stated by Kavinder Dhillon, President & CEO of LabTest Certification Inc.
