Steps for Compliance
-
Audit Certifications: Identify products still listed under CSA A440.2-09 using NRCan’s certification lookup tool.
-
Retest Products: Validate performance against CSA A440.2-19 via accredited labs. Key tests include:
-
Thermal transmittance (U-factor) ≤ 1.22 W/m²K (Northern zones)
-
Solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) ≥ 0.23 (Southern zones)
-
-
Update Documentation: Submit new test reports to NRCan for ENERGY STAR requalification.

Why This Matters
Canada’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan mandates stricter building efficiency. Non-compliant fenestration products:
-
Invalidate green building certifications (LEED, Passive House)
-
Disqualify projects from federal grants like Canada Greener Homes Initiative
-
Increase liability for developers under provincial energy codes
Check your certification records, and if any of your products are certified to the 2009 standard, contact us as they will need to be recertified before the deadline.
